Catch is, with 'delete local content', if I want the game back I may have just nuked all my history of accomplishments and or progress on unfinished games no? Maybe if I read things right, it would then re-install on the E drive with space if I did it that way? Most games keep their savegame files in a separate location (users/Username/My Documents, etc). But if your game is linked to the Steam Cloud, then you don't have to worry about it at all. If you're worried about losing your saves, just do a google search for where the savegames are located and copy them to a flash drive or something.
Oddly, I used the Steam 'install' I have attemped on the E drive and used 'delete local content' on Dead Island and Deadlight (two I am done with that are taking up about 12% of the drive). The Data and Speech engine stuff for DI and the movies and cookedpccconsole for Deadlight are still on the drive. I am thinking just go and nuke that off the C drive given Steam didn't seem to do anything with them when I deleted the local content.Why oh why didn't I pay up for a bigger ssd?! That said, when I bought it, 150 gig was already massively expensive at around 450 usd iirc. It should all be in your user folder under either My Games or somewhere else in the tree. The best way to move an entire Steam install is to reinstall in the new location then just copy the original steamapps folder over. When you launch (the new) Steam it might say a bunch of your games aren't installed, but when you tell Steam to dowload them it will run through and recognize that the game is already there and just take a minute to validate files.Yep.+ This.I've got a big network share available, so I routinely move steam games I don't intend to play soon off my space constrained desktop onto the big share. When I want them back, I copy them back down into steamapps, tell steam to 'download' and 90% of the time I'm ready to play in a few seconds.

Make sure to copy the steamapps folder first though and just dump that into the new location post the fresh install.
Sounds fairly easy - and then nuke all the stuff on the C drive (if it wasn't dumped off with the uninstall). Hmmm, sounds straighforward. Steam is an odd animal really - you go to the settings and there is no 'save games here' info or anything that really shows you what is where on your computer. Heck even the library page isn't helpful on this front. If you want to move the whole steam folder, just do a copy of it to the second drive somewhere.
Uninstill it from the main drive, reinstall copy, etc. Just as others have said. If you only want to move one or two folders, use steam mover, or you can move them and do the junctions manually.copy folder from c:Games - d:Games.open elevated promt and stand in C:Games. Then run the command:mklink /J 'StarCraft II' 'D:GamesStarCraft II'Voila, you have moved a folder, and this will work with steam/origin and many other programs and is essentially what steam mover does for you. When it comes to the Steam application itself I don't risk the betas. They've come a long way from having to delete clientregistry.blob every couple of months, perform some arcane voodoo while dancing around a bonfire nekkid at midnight to keep Steam in good working order.
I'll let them work the kinks out of new features and decide they're ready to roll out instead of risking having to call upon the old gods to get things working again.Besides, that feature is useless if they don't let you move games after they're installed. A lot of single-player save games on Steam also seem to go into whatever the default My DocumentsGames folder is. I'm not sure you can actually change that, but some games have huge saves and might be eating space there on your SSD as well.Be careful about this one. I did Steam's recommended way (moving steamapps or something like that) and now games are installed on the new drive but savegames are still kept on C. I can't be bothered to change it but if you do need the space I would reconfigure your savegame locations.
I followed the instructions in this post when I switched over to a SSD:This method requires Link Shell Extension though in order to create junctions.Once in use though it's braindead easy. Installing new stuff on Steam asks me where to install things, but I just let it go to the default folder (C:Program Files(x86)Steamsteamapps) and that automatically dumps things via the junction onto the linked folder on my HDD. No extra work is required to manage games once it's set up.Now if I want to move a specific game (or more than one), I'll have to use SteamMover or tell Steam to install in a different folder my SSD. You could set your 'steamapps' up so everyone has full rights. That should disable most requests except for when your games install.2.
Alternatively you can install Steam to a secondary location, such as a second HDD/SSD.For reference I run 7 with UAC maxed from a small SSD (C:), using a regular user account with a password-protected master admin account that I never use. Steam's installed on my main media drive, a 1TB HDD, under GamesSteam. Some games go on my second SSD (X:), and I usually shuffle those on and off.

The only time I get a prompt is when new games run their first-time setup (when DirectX updates).If you already have a Steam install, as I understand it, I would just move your 'steamapps' folder somewhere safe, uninstall Steam and reinstall elsewhere (then you put your 'steamapps' folder back in).But if you're not running into space issues, just do the first thing.
